He also noticed that his father was the same man he had been seeing whenever his conscience falls into the past which did help him get acquainted with his father as he saw how much the man love his mom. Still he does keep a bit of a distance with him due to the fact that he doesn't feel like the guy his a father figure to him.

When one first met Squall they would notice that he is quiet. He doesn't really talk much and most of the time keeps a quite a distance. He rather only talks when he is required to. Even when he does talk though it's usually pretty short so one should never try to do idle chatter with him, at least not when they first meet him anyway. Most of the time he is in his own little corner just waiting for when there is something for him to do. He usually has an aura around him that just makes it seems like he doesn't care about anything. Most of the time when people try to preach to him, he would ignore them and simply say "Whatever".
It is easy for him to get annoyed with people, especially those that are loud. He consider those that talk a lot are idiots, except for a certain few that are among his list of friends. Even when he is annoyed though, he doesn't really show it much. Instead he would try o get away from the person.

Squall was born in the small village of Winhill. His mother, Raine had difficulties giving birth to him though and if it wasn't for the arrival of a girl name Ellone, chances are he would have never came into this world. His father at the time though was not with his mother but rather in Esthar. His mother died right after he was given birth. Ellone and Squall were then put into an orphanage that was ran by Edea and Cid.
Growing up in the orphanage, even though there were many kids surrounding him, the boy was always around Ellone who he considers to be his big sister. He would always play and try his best to help her out. He also calls her 'big sis' instead of her name liked most children. There are times where he would play with the other kids as well but it wasn't really that much compare to Ellone. Yet one day she just left him, no one told him why at all. On that day, he figured that she had abandoned him, not wanting to feel the pain of being left behind ever again he started to close himself off from everyone else.
Throughout the years it was hard for people to adopt him because he was distant. All the adults saw him as abnormal unlike all the other kids who were hyper and active. While the kids would play, he would always be in his little room reading an old book. At the age of eight though he entered Balamb Garden to train as a SeeD. The reason was because Ellone had requested him although no one had informed him of that. While most of the kids chose simple weapons, he chose the gunblade which was considered hard to master due to the fact that one must not only be able to fight well close range, they had to be able to stand the recoil when they pull the trigger. Although he wasn't the only one that had chosen that weapon, another kid named Seifer chose it as well. Instantly they became rivals as they were the only two to have chosen that kind of weapon.
Throughout the years people considered him to be the lone wolf due to the fact that he didn't care about anything. On days where he was allowed off he wouldn't be hanging out with his friends but rather training on how to use the gunblade. He never even tried to make any friends and whenever someone came up to him he would always shoo them away. Although thanks to his training, he was quite well known for his talent. He was also great at using GFs but as he started to use them, he started to forget about Ellone, the only thing he remembered about her and the orphanage was the feeling of being abandoned.He and Seifer also dueled one another many times to hone their skills and he got his scar during a duel with Seifer but he quickly gave him a mirror of the scar.
He graduated at the age of seventeen with Selphie, Zell and Nida. During the inauguration ball, Squall as usual was in his corner not wanting to dance. He watched the rest of the students have fun dancing. That was when he first saw her, she stood out in the crowd even though she looked so ordinary. She had spotted him also and took him out of his little corner and started to dance with him. At first he was nervous as he never really danced before but as he continued he started to relax. At the end she left to go with someone else and he went to the balcony to meet with Quistis who was surprised. Even he was surprised but he didn't make any comment on it.
His first mission as a SeeD member was to help a group called the Forest Owls to kidnap the president with Zell and Selphie, the two he had graduated with. During the mission he fainted and found himself in someone else's body. The person was known as Laguna. It was an event that would soon become quite regular for him.Once he arrived to the meeting place, he met the leader of the Forest Owls who strangely turned about to be Rinoa. When he first came upon her, she instantly hugged him much to his shock. When she asked him where Seifer was, he simply stated that the guy didn't graduate. He completed the plan to separating the train only to find out that the president they have captured was nothing more than a double. That was when he started to distrust the Forest Owl and question how good they really are.
On the next mission, Squall at first didn't join in on the plan. Instead he asked to see the contract as he figured he had done his mission. When he finished reading it, he saw that he was under her command until the president was dead and so he joined in on the second operation which was to capture the president during his speech. On the way there, though Rinoa and Squall got into an argument which ended with her leaving. Not so long after that, the president was broadcast onto the TV and was captured by Seifer. Quisistis came onto screen and requested help so Squall, Zell and Selphie dashed up to the TV station. In the end though Seifer walked away with a woman.
After that incident, the group laid low and the SeeD member got into another argument with Rinoa about how they viewed life. Once they were allowed to leave the city, the two argued again about Squall cold attitude to others. Once they made it to the garden, they were given a new mission which was to assassinate the Sorceress with a new team member known was Irvine.
In Delling city he met Rinoa's father and learned about her past. Instead of helping her though he quickly left to prepare to complete his mission. Too bad there were unforeseen obstacles, the first being the fact that Rinoa was captured by the sorceress. Quickly he rushed to save her under the order of Quistis and in return she helped them at their attempt. The second problem was:Irvine for some reason started to chicken out. This aggravated the male as he yelled at the guy to just shoot. It was too late though as the sorceress was in on the plan and so with no other options, he charged up to complete the mission himself. That was when he ran into obstacle number three: Seifer. It was a shock to find out that his rival was still alive and even more was that he was now protecting the goddess. After defeating his rival he charged up at the target and after a battle she sent ice shards at him. The injury caused him to lose his consciousness.
When he woke up, he was tortured by Seifer. During that time he learned that Edea, the sorceress, planned to use missiles on the Gardens. With the help of his teammates who had escaped their prison hold, he was able to escape. The group then split with Squall's group race to the Gardens to warn them about the missiles while Selphie group makes an attempt to stop the missiles.
However when he made it to the garden, the place was pure chaos. Norg, the founder of Balamb Garden tried to overthrow Cid. While searching for the headmaster he did his best to help whoever he can. After they found him, he learned about how the Garden can become a flying fortress. After activating it and cleaning up the mess caused by the attempt to rebel, he gave into Rinoa's request for him to give her a tour. For some reason, she started to be nicer to him after that.
During the flight they met a group known as the White SeeD, who wanted to a woman name Ellone. There he learned that she had been the one who had sent his consciousness into time. He then started to remember more about his past and started to feel familiarity with her. Wanting to protect her from the sorceress, he handed her over to White SeeD.
After that event, the Garden crashed into Fisherman Horizon due to the fact that there is no steering device. Cid sent Squall and his group to be ambassadors, he apologized to the mayor only to be asked to leave due to the fact that the city was neutral. The Sorceress sent Galbadian soldiers. After the attempt to stop the fight but was refused. Having no other choice, the SeeD members fought the soldiers and saved the town. During that time they reunited with Selphie's group. For the first time he felt glad that they were alive, something that Rinoa remarked to him later that day. The mayor not wanting to owe them anything ordered the city to fix Balamb Garden.
Once he returned, Cid admitted that he could no longer be the headmaster as his wife was none other than Edea. Before he quit, he appointed Squall leader, a decision that the young male didn't like. His friends though decided to try cheer him up by setting up a concert just for him and Rinoa encouraged him to trust in not only himself but also his friends. With their help, he became the leader with his first order to liberate Balamb from Galbadian's reign.
The next order was to help Trabai Garden, Sephie's home Garden. He provided support and shelter for the members of the Garden. Rinoa started to doubt herself. He started to remember his times with her but not only that, he started to remember a bit about his past. Thanks to Irvine, he remembered that they all lived in the same orphanage. Now he remembered everything about his childhood, he also remembered the one that raised him was Edea. That was when he learned why Irvine choked when he saw the sorceress was none other than Edea. Still he decided to march on even and started to head to the orphanage to find clues only to be intercepted by a Galbadia Garden. He sensed how nervous SeeD and the cadets were, he gave out a speech which motivated them. After defeating Seifer once again and this time defeating Edea, Rinoa went into a coma.

They then found an abandoned spaceship and used it to go back home. During the ride he started to reveal more about himself as he fate safe around Rinoa. She also revealed that she is happy whenever she is with him.
When they landed in Esthar, the military took her away. At first though he didn't move to save her as it was part of his mission. She was a sorceress now and so she was to be sent into space. His friends though didn't feel the same way and convinced him to save her. After he saved her, the group went to the orphanage. There he silently vowed to himself that he shall become her knight and protect her no matter what. After he heard about her nightmare of not being able to find him, the two made a promise to meet in the flower field of the orphanage.
They then moved back to Esthar as they were requested by Laguna who promised that he won't lay a finger on Rinoa. They then used the spaceship Squall had found earlier, Ragnarok and went to Lunatic Pandora. After beating Seifer and Adel, his rival captured Rinoa and junctioned her body to Adel. Not wanting to hurt her, he held back during the battle but still came out victorious. Ultemicia once again tried to take over Rinoa and that was when Ellone used her power over time to give the sorceress the chance to activate her plan with time compression.
The group headed for the future where they met the sorceress. After fighting her, time went back to normal but the group were stranded in time. Squall found himself in the orphanage. There he saw Edea who was slowly being possessed by a dying Ultemicia who he had followed. He told her about the future with SeeD and how everything was going to be alright. The next thing he knew was in the dessert, the middle of no where. He walked in the wasteland for what felt like forever and started to slowly give up. His body tired, he soon found himself at a dead end. When he was about to lose hope he saw a single white feather that reminded him of Rinoa and their promise along with the first time they met. Slowly more memories came to him such as his adventures and the people he have met. His memories flashed before his eyes as he was slowly dying. That was when he felt someone near him who saved him from near death.

Ultemicia once again tried to take over Rinoa and that was when Ellone used her power over time to give the sorceress the chance to activate her plan with time compression.
The group headed for the future where they met the sorceress. After fighting her, time went back to normal but the group were stranded in time. Squall found himself in the orphanage. There he saw Edea who was slowly being possessed by a dying Ultemicia who he had followed. He told her about the future with SeeD and how everything was going to be alright. The next thing he knew was in the dessert, the middle of no where. He walked in the wasteland for what felt like forever and started to slowly give up. His body tired, he soon found himself at a dead end. When he was about to lose hope he saw a single white feather that reminded him of Rinoa and their promise along with the first time they met. Slowly more memories came to him such as his adventures and the people he have met. His memories flashed before his eyes as he was slowly dying. That was when he felt someone near him who saved him from near death.
When he woke up, he found himself at the flower field alive and saw Rinoa. During the celebration in the Garden, the two looked up at the stars. He turned to her and smiled before they kissed. Shortly after that though, everything was destroyed. When he woke up, he found himself in a new world. During the first couple of weeks he forgot who he was and started to work as a mercenary. Slowly though memories came back to him and now he sets out to find his friends.

Squall opened his eyes to find himself in an inn. Narrow light blue eyes reflected on the fan that was connected to the ceiling. His arm across his forehead and shielding his eyes a bit. He had that dream again, the dream that constantly haunted him. A dream where he was walking around in that desert once again, lost, no where to be found. His feet felt tired but he continued to walk anyway. Even though they begged him to stop and his logical senses told him that he was lost, he continued to walk just like the first time. He soon fell onto the floor with the only difference this time was that Rinoa didn't find him. She never saved him and she was left waiting for him on the flower field, the place they had promised to meet if anything was to happen. His eyes closed as he remembered her face when she told him about the nightmare, how she couldn't find him. Was she worried right now? Was she waiting for him at the flower patch? A sense of guilt was sent into his mind. He had forgotten about that promise two weeks, three days and...he looked at the clock five hours, three minutes and now fifty-three seconds. How in the world could he had forgotten about her like that? He had made a silent vow to protect her, to be her knight.
His free hand gripped onto the bed sheet as his greeted his teeth. She must be so worried right now and he doesn't even know how he got here. He was sure that it was not Ellone's doing, she had learned not to mess with time anymore, to never again mess with the past as it can never be changed again. So what happened? He slowly got up and stared out at the window onto the busy streets. From what he had gotten, the city was called Edge, a city he has never heard of. Chances are he was probably sent either into a very distant past or the very distant future. He couldn't remember the name Edge in any kind of historical recordings though so maybe he was in the future. Yet that didn't make sense due to the fact that no one had ever seen a gunblade and their guns didn't seem that highly advance. Also, there didn't seem to be that many flying ship and nothing about the Gardens let alone SeeD. There was also no familiar landmark at all and from the map he had gotten, it was nothing like his time at all. So he wasn't so sure what time period he was in at all. He had asked for the date and it was in 2010, a year that was the same as his own which only made him even more curious. Were they still in the same time period, they could have changed it if it was in the future after all.
He walked down onto the first floor and noted that there were many customers as usual. People don't seem to have homes in this place at all, actually a lot of people lived in the streets or this inn due to the fact that the owner was kind enough to accept everyone. Once he came down the manager walked over to him. "Good morning Squall." the man greeted him. He stared at the man for a moment before he greeted back. "Good morning." The man was quite kind, he had accepted the young adult even though he was quite poor. Even more was that the man gave him food and when he offered help, the man did give him jobs but always made sure that it wasn't tiring. Sometimes it felt like the man was patronizing him but his experience with his friends constantly reminded him that it was simply the man's kindness.
Without another words the male left the inn. The streets of Edge was as busy as usual. People walked down the path and the kids would run around playing their little games. He continued to walk down though in hopes of finding some clue. He needed to get back, to find his friends, to see his family again and most of all, to meet Rinoa at their promise place. His pace quickened in hopes that he would run into anyone, anyone he knew. Just anyone would have made him a bit happy. He was even hoping he runs into Seifer, the guy that he hated with a passion. The one that had given him his scar. Still just seeing the guy would let him know that he was not the only one stuck in this strange new setting that he knew practically nothing about. Most of the time, he would want to do his best to avoid the guy but right now he wouldn't mind the blond's presence. He had actually became that desperate for someone to know him that it scared him quite a bit. Yet no matter how much he walked, he didn't see any familiar faces.
